Is "Clown" coming to Steam in the future? Just asking?

no

The game is a slow burn but is really worth it! The end was really cool and seeing the clown stalk us throughout the entire game was creepy!
2nd game in the video.

thankss

Don't answer the door, instead enjoy this no commentary playthrough with BOTH ENDINGS:

Truly another great game from you. I loved how the simple gameplay mechanics and classic creepy clown vibe subverted my expectations to become a deeply dark psychological horror. Showing off both the good and bad endings was a blast because both are worth seeing. Keep dropping these gems so we can keep playing them!

I've just recorded my video on this game, there are both positives and negatives I can list which I think can help you improve the experience for the next game.

Pros:

1. I loved the thing that was covered up in the storage room, it really added tension and it didn't need to do anything in order to make the player feel that. I was constantly wondering whether it was still there, what is hiding under there or whether it would move rooms etc.

2. I also did enjoy the music although it was simple it achieved its goal of making me feel uncomfortable.

3. I really liked the visuals although it isn't the top textures etc, I love that style which reminds me of Fears To Fathom. Although some models such as that for the mop could be improved on significantly.

Cons:

1. I got soft locked after exploring the garden as I got stuck in the pool and had to restart from the beginning.

2.The dialogue doesn't really feel immersive, ESPECIALLY the moment where the character we play mentions his grandma killing herself because of the 'shitty' house. It feels a bit ignorant but I'm sure that was not the intention.

3.I was hoping to see the clown a bit more to be honest, as we only see him twice, once when he's in the garden and again when he's chasing you.  I do understand it is a short game but just a note :)

4. Pouring the gasoline on the house is extremely difficult when being chased by him, I'd recommend making the pouring a lot shorter or instant.

5.Final thing, I would've loved for there to be more of a story behind this clown and to have been able to explore its house.

How did he get there?

Is it human?

Overall the game was okay, I did read another comment made and saw it was your first game and as a first game with the time limit you had you should be proud. I really hope you improve on the next one and I'm sure that if you REALLY enjoy making games then you will improve. Don't give up and don't take criticisms as a failure, take it as a lesson for the next game :)

I played this game when it first came out and I loved it so much! Really enjoyed what you did with the visuals/filter effects and I also liked that it's not that short of a game. I'm not usually scared by clowns but that chasing part by the end kinda changed my mind 😭

I got all endings in my gameplay video aswell. Your games are amazing and I really can't wait to see more ❀️

It was a good game. Always never liked clowns, haha! The part were the clown is chasing you while you're trying to burn the house, do wish it was a bit hard. Being inside the house was basically the safe spot. Just to add some more thrill to it. But other then that, W game!!

I had to quit the game because I accidentally fell into the pool while running around and got softlocked...

Edit: I'm coming back after playing the game because giving it a second (and third) playthrough gave me extra time to think about the game as a whole and I have thoughts I'd like to share.

First off, if you're going to have text appearing as a character speaks, and you aren't giving us a way to skip it, at least try to match the speed the text pops up with cadence common to speech, if not reading speeds.

I have to assume there's an air of satirization to the game, otherwise I'd have to gripe about mood killers and nitpicks like how the car turns the corner, or how the house has a garage that's functionally useless in fulfilling the purpose of a garage.

Saying you don't blame your grandma for killing herself because of the house is somehow both a meaningless statement, and a rude one as well.

Another nitpick, there's a tear in the seam of the house next to the stairs, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but polish can go a long way for a small game like this.

Why are we mopping what looks like a carpet?

Why are we mopping dirt?

Why is there a mop that's inaccessible in the attic?

Why are we calling two sticks in a T formation a mop?

Ah, yes. sitting down to a hearty meal of one can of something. The lazy developers shortcut to making time pass "naturally".

The first time the neighbor knocks on your door, I looked out the window and triggered the jumpscare without opening to the door, so I just sat there, talking to wood. The second time, I opened the door prematurely, so I was fully standing outside my house when I got teleported back to the door to watch the guy spawn in.

The dialogue is subpar at best, btw. No one talks like anything written in the game.

On a positive note: I like that after you get one ending you start back over from when you wake up in your room, implying that the previous ending might've been a dream. That was probably the only real decision added to the game that made it psychological, though, the rest of the scares were just jump scares, which aren't inherently bad, but I wouldn't say they were done with any real finesse in this game.

Sorry if I come off as harsh here, but I can see the potential, and there's almost nothing but glazing in the comments. It's earned some praise, for sure, but I personally believe that outside critique is more constructive to artists than praise.

You're absolutely right about what you said; thank you for your advice. This is one of my first games, and I made it in a week, so I couldn't pay too much attention to it. it's my fault.

There's nothing wrong with making an unpolished game, especially if it's your first that was made in a week. I'm not trying to discourage you from developing video games, it's actually the opposite. By having the flaws in a piece of art spotlighted, the artist can more easily hone their craft. Not only can they learn to be more technically skilled in their medium, they can also form a better understanding of their artistic style.

As an example, a lot of indie devs make their games with low polygonal counts out of laziness, allowing them to lean back on the excuse "I wanted it to look like a playstation game" to deflect critique, but some devs really were trying to emulate the look of a playstation, usually out of nostalgia, and some use it to obscure details so your imagination fills in the holes, leading to an oftentimes scarier monster under the principle of "theater of the mind". There are even developers who use the psx aesthetic to lower the skill required to model the stuff they want to add, like humans and such.

Imo, the only real laziness I felt was in the consumption of a can from a freezer, but like you said, it's your first game, and you had a time limit. Using a common shorthand when you don't have the time or skill to fully implement a very specific moment is perfectly valid in this stage.

CCool horror! Game atmosphere is so cool

thankss

Great game really enjoyed it definitely looking forward to play more of your games

Thankssss

Um, Well. Many have comment put your game so you know it’s good. I’m just gonna leave it here. And thank you for making such a horror games. It’s well done πŸ‘πŸ»

Thank youuu

this was my friends first time playing a video game ever and we had a blast. the cleaning section got tedious at times but there were some pretty strong scares.

This game made me quit my job,  divorce my wife, abandon my kids, and live out the rest of my life as a clown. This game gave me a revelation and made me follow the path that was calling me to follow my whole life… If you need a clown to perform for your kid’s birthdays or at community events, just keep your door unlocked tonight… I’ll see you soon. :)

This game scared me so bad he was moving so crazy.  Well done in setting up the atmosphere and giving us menial tasks to get us lost in what we should actually be afraid of.

Very funny and terrifying game, I played it live on stream, and my chat loved it, the video below is a VOD of the gameplay!!!, its the last game i played

I really liked the game, but I wish the clown had more jump scares.

This game was a short, but very sweet and spooky experience! The dev has a great grasp of the vibes of β€œIT” and I’m absolutely here for it! 🀑 Absolutely loved this game and had a ton fun playing! Keep up the great work dev! πŸ‘

Alright… be honest.

If you saw this clown in your garden at night… are you checking it out… or locking the doors and pretending you don’t exist? πŸ˜…

This game actually got under my skin more than I expected. The way it slowly creeps into your head… yeah, I’m not sleeping tonight.

πŸ‘‡ Drop your choice below: πŸ”΄ Investigate the clown 🟒 Ignore it and survive

Also — there are TWO endings…  πŸ‘€

Don’t forget to like if this creeped you out and subscribe for more horror chaos! πŸ”₯

Had to restart it a few times to get past some glitches. I also got soft locked in the pool in the backyard. Sad face.

Tried out your game.

Hi ReichIV! I'm a beginner translator interested in voluntarily localizing your game into Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR). If you're interested, I would love to help :)

This was an interesting title… not enough clown … but plenty of balloons… all in all fun… recommended!

CLOWN

Really cool game; i enjoyed it :)

Pretty solid game, it does need some optimization and some sound balancing but overall it was fun and had a good scare factor.

Why does this game eats up to 80% of my grahphics card?

this was a really fun game to play! I hate clowns so I did scream quite a lot when he was chasing me. 10/10 super creepy can’t wait to see more
